When a child is placed with a new foster family, they often arrive with little more than the clothing they are wearing and more often than not, their treasured belongings are in a trash bag. It is then up to new foster parents to find or buy necessities for the child. Simple items like clothing, toiletry items, shoes, etc. add up. In addition, many families are thrust unprepared into caring for children from newborn to teenagers. With limited resources and a need to focus on the child rather than look for supplies like cribs, changing tables, extra beds, car seats, etc, these caregivers scramble to provide appropriate and safe items.
